Swimmers Win over Pius, Next up Norfolk

In a night where the seniors were honored, the team produced another great win over Pius. The girls team, now 8-0 in dual meets this season, won 123-63. The boys won by a score of 128-57, which improves them to a 7-1 record. The team meets Norfolk next at LSW on Thursday, January 26th.

The evening started out strong with a first place finish for senior Nicole Schwery (244.34 pts.), and juniors Hannah Blythe and Megan Hastings finishing third and fourth. On the boys side, freshman Brady Stock finished first with 166.34 points and sophomore Colton Zetterman finishing second.

In one of the most exciting finishes of the night freshman Abby Lunzmann edged out Bridgette Hafner by .44 seconds for the win and an automatic state qualifying time of 1:03.48 in the 100 yard butterfly. In the next race, sophomore Griffin Day won his heat of the 100 fly with a state qualifying time of :55.51. Freshman Carter Lyons also picked up a qualifying time in the 100 yard backstroke finishing in a time of :58.01. Aimee Fischer, sophomore, set a new school record in the 500 free with a time of 5:15.08.
