NEW ANNOUNCEMENTS:

Tabitha Staehr, founder and CEO of the Schulyer Peterson Toy Drive Foundation, is collecting toys for her annual Christmas giving this year.  We will be collecting toy items until Monday, December 14 and they can be dropped off in the collection box near the entrance of the main office. Thank you for your support.

Do you have a unique talent? If so, talk to David Petersen about performing in the NHS Talent Show on December 19th. Any and all act are welcome to try out.

This winter is shaping up to be a busy time here at the Lincoln Children's Museum! We have our Candyhouse Funshop starting just around the corner which is a great opportunity for high school student groups to get involved in the community!

Candyhouse Funshop is an event that takes place Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays December 5th - December 20th. There are 5 shifts available each week.

If you are interested in volunteering, please contact Rachel Hermsen  at 402-477-4000 ext. 105. This is a big event for the museum that is sure to be loads of fun for anyone that can make it!

The  SCC at Your Service program will be held at LSW on Tuesday, December 15th at 2:05-3:15 in the Media Center Lab.  Potential students will receive extra assistance as they apply for admission and scholarships with Southeast Community College.It’s the perfect opportunity for students to receive one-on-one assistance and have questions answered. Students need to sign up in the Counseling Center if they are interested in attending this event. To ensure that the application processes can be completed, students must have the following information available the day of the SCC at Your Service program:

COUNSELING CENTER ANNOUNCEMENTS:

Duke Youth Programs is a part of Duke University Continuing Studies and has provided summer academic enrichment for academically motivated youth for over 30 years. Each summer approximately 650 youth from around the nation and world, representing some 22 states and 5 different countries, attend one of the summer programs. The camps open for registration on December 1st! Duke offers 13 different programs for students from grades 6-11. All programs seek to engage learners in innovative, interactive, transformative learning experiences. Co-curricular social and recreational activities are carefully planned and delivered to complement the instructional day. The camp “learning community” approaches learning as a shared responsibility among students, instructors, and counselors. The University of Nebraska–Lincoln (UNL) Advanced Scholars Program provides 11th and 12th grade high school students the opportunity to complete UNL college credit at a reduced tuition rate. We are currently accepting applications for the Spring 2016 Semester. The Application deadline is January 7, 2016 but students are encouraged to apply early.

The Advanced Scholars website has instructions for students on how to enroll, ordering textbooks, paying tuition, beginning their online course(s), and important dates.

Advanced Scholars Application Forms
Students applying for Advanced Scholars need to provide the following information:
• UNL Visiting Student Application for Admission (to be completed online by the student). A one-time $45 application fee is required. This fee is waived if the student has applied to the University system within the last 12 months. The Visiting Student Application for Admission is good for only one semester.
• High School Student Hour Approval Form (to be completed by the counselor and principal)
• Tuition & Grades Signature Form (to be completed by the student and parent/guardian)
Nebraska high school students may qualify for the Access College Early (ACE) Scholarship Program offered by Nebraska's Coordinating Commission for Post-secondary Education.

UNK's Freshmen Scholarship Deadline extended to March 1, 2016
UNK has extended our freshmen scholarship deadline to March 1st, 2016. Your high school seniors can take February ACT and it will count for the new March 1 freshmen scholarship deadline.

Goodrich Scholarship Program application period opens October 1, 2015 and ends Tuesday, March 1, 2016 at 5:00PM (CST). Applicants can apply online at http://www.unomaha.edu/college-of-public-affairs-and-community-service/goodrich-scholarship-program/apply/index.php. Unofficial high school transcripts and ACT/SAT scores will still be directly uploaded by the applicant in their Goodrich application account.

If so, the LSW Booster's Holiday Boutique will be held on Tuesday, December 1st in the LSW Commons area between 3:30 & 6:30 p.m. Concessions will available through FCCLA. A portion of every sales will be donated to the Adopt-A-Hawk Program, which assists LSW students & families.
