The second blood drive of the school year will take place on Thursday, Nov. 3rd. All participating donors will receive a free t-shirt AND help raise scholarship funds for students right here at SW! Anyone interested in donating should look for a HOSA member recruiting before school, after school, or during lunch. The sign up sheet will also be located in the man office. Questions? 2017 Prudential Spirit of Community Awards are open to students in grades 5-12 who have participated in a volunteer activity within the past year. Honors are granted at the local, state and national level. The top honorees from each of the 50 states and the District of Columbia receive a cash prize and an all-expenses-paid trip to Washington, D.C. for four days of special recognition events.

Seniors interested in applying for the Susan Thompson Buffett Scholarship are invited to attend the STB Scholarship Workshop on Thursday, November 3rd in the B118 Forum from 3:15 to 4:00 pm.  The Susan T. Buffett Foundation has offered scholarships to Nebraska students for more than 50 years. Scholarships are awarded on a competitive basis to first-time, entering freshmen who are residents of Nebraska and graduates of a Nebraska high school. Reminder that the first NHS chapter meeting of term 2 is this Friday morning at 7:30 in B101. See you all there!

Young Republicans Club, October 28, November 4, and November 18 at 3:15

There will be a meeting for all boys basketball players not still playing a fall sport at 3:15pm Thursday October 27 in D023.  We will discuss our pre-season conditioning plan and open gym schedule.  See Coach Bahe, Coach Kohl, or Coach Simpson with questions.

Multicultural caucus will be meeting Thursday in A202 at 3:10. Come to learn more about other cultures, organize events and get involved in your community! Contact Mrs. Hess or Kali Masur if you have any questions.

For those interested in joining the Southwest High School Archery Team–An informational meeting will be held in room D023 at 3:15PM on Wednesday 26th.  Previous archery experience is not required and this team is open to all Southwest students.   Practices will be held at an off campus site.  See Ms. Cariotto in D020 if you have any questions.

The science Olympiad team would like to invite everybody to eat at Five Guys this Wed, Oct 26, from 4-8 to help support the team.

UNO is hosting a cybersecurity competition, and we'd like LSW to be represented!  In a cybersecurity competition, students solve a series of challenges in the areas of encryption, programming, networking and the web, simulating what real professionals must do to stop hackers from gaining access to our information.  The competition is Saturday, November 19.  If this sounds intriguing, please e-mail Mr. Handelman or attend an informational session this Wednesday after school in the C209 computer lab.

LSW Japanese Club is hosting a Pumpkin Painting Contest next Thursday the 27th after school in the Commons. Awesome prizes will be rewarded.  Sign up with Cunningham sensei in room A213.   Sugoi Desune. (soo-goy dess nay)

Lighthouse is having their annual Haunted House Event is on Monday, October 31 from 6-8p.m. Test your bravery by walking through our haunted house. Enjoy Halloween movies and snacks throughout the night. The best three costumes will win free gift cards.  Free food, free drinks, and free screams!

Students Together Against Cancer (STAC) is having a 3 v 3 basketball Tournament on Saturday, October 29th in the LSW Practice gym! Register your team before and after school or during lunch for just $5 a person. The money goes to local cancer patients and you don’t have to be an amazing player to participate.

Well, you're in luck! The Lighthouse After School Program on 26th and N, is hosting a College/Career Fair on Thursday October 20th from 6-7:30pm with a FREE dinner served from 5:30-6:00 - Colleges, universities and military branches from all over Nebraska will be there with free stuff, cookies, candy, and giftcard giveaways! Learn about scholarships that can get you a college education for FREE! Bring your friends and family for more chances to win!

Food Fight” is a five week food drive that DECA needs YOUR help to accomplish their goals. Last year, our school alone raised 5000 pounds! Please start bringing non-perishable food items within the next few weeks! Please bring some juice and any other food items that you want and place it in the blue barrels by the trophy cases! Thank you for helping in the “Food Fight”!
