Through the Raise.me online platform,  students in grades 9-12 can earn micro-scholarships from the University of Minnesota Twin Cities for their academic and extracurricular achievements, such as strong grades, rigorous coursework, or leadership positions.

The University of Minnesota Twin Cities' partnership with Raise.me is a pilot program. At this time, students with a GPA of 3.6 can earn micro-scholarships toward their enrollment at the University of Minnesota’s College of Food, Agricultural and Natural Resource Sciences (one of our seven freshman-admitting colleges). This college offers majors ranging from nutrition to sustainable systems management to animal science (see full list of majors below).

The micro-scholarships students earn on Raise.me represent the guaranteed minimum amount of scholarship aid they will receive if they apply and are admitted to the College of Food, Agricultural and Natural Resource Sciences at the University of Minnesota. Our admissions decisions are based on a holistic review of each student’s applications, and the details are online at http://admissions.tc.umn.edu.

If you have any questions about Raise.me, please contact Rachelle Hernandez, Associate Vice Provost for the Enrollment Management & Director of Admissions,  at 612-626-8378 or 1-800-752-1000.

Cornell continues to welcome use of either the Universal College Application (UCA) or the Common Application (CA) and considers both applications on equal footing. While Cornell is a member of the Coalition for Access, Affordability, and Success, it will not begin accepting the Coalition Application until the 2017-2018 admission cycle for fall of 2018. U.S. citizens and permanent residents admitted during early decision will receive more information regarding our financial aid deadlines, and more information regarding Financial Aid at Cornell can be found at: http://finaid.cornell.edu/apply-for-aid. U.S. citizens and permanent residents who are admitted during early decision, but who have not initiated a financial aid application by February 15, 2017, will not be considered for institutional aid.

Beginning with the class enrolling in fall 2017, admissions decisions for all undergraduate international applicants will be need-aware. International applicants who do not apply for financial aid (and who are admitted) will not be eligible to apply for international financial aid at any later point after enrolling as an undergraduate at Cornell. Please note that it is now too late for international early decision applicants to apply for international financial aid as the deadline (Nov. 1) has passed. The international financial aid application deadline for regular decision admission candidates isJanuary 2; this is also the regular decision admission application deadline.

Very soon, early decision applicants will receive an email reiterating the ED binding commitment. Here are some of the highlights from the email to students:

Better Business Bureau (BBB) is holding a video contest open to all students in grades 9-12 who reside in Nebraska. Cash prizes will be awarded to students and their schools for entries receiving first and second place. Students may enter individually or form teams of two to four participants. Five hundred dollars will be awarded to the creator(s) of the winning video, and $500 will be given to their school. In addition, $250 will be awarded to the second place video, and $250 will be given to their school. Winners will be determined by how well the entry adheres to BBB’s brand, expresses the theme "Start With Trust,” the quality of the video’s production and how many times it’s been viewed on BBB’s YouTube channel.

This competition provides an opportunity for high school students to creatively learn the values of BBB - trustworthy, ethical, reliable and objective – and challenges them to discover how these values can be applied in their everyday lives. Contestants will also gain valuable marketing experience because they are challenged to get the most views on YouTube by promoting their video on social media.

Aside from the benefit to the students, this is a wonderful opportunity for your institution. The video submission deadline is Friday, Jan. 13, 2017, and the winners will be notified on or before March 1, 2017.

Complete details about the contest and required forms can be accessed by clicking on the Student Video Contest icon on the homepage of BBB’s website at bbbinc.org.
