Seniors are reminded that the online application for the Jackie Robinson Foundation Scholarship is now available at www.jackierobinson.org.  The JRF application is the vehicle through which more than 3,000 talented young minority high school students apply to become JRF Scholars and carry on the civic-minded legacy of the Foundation’s namesake, Jackie Robinson. The deadline to submit the application for a Jackie Robinson Foundation Scholarship is February 15, 2017 by 5:00 pm ET.

Jackie Robinson Foundation (JRF) is a public, not-for-profit national organization founded by Rachel Robinson in 1973 as a vehicle to perpetuate the memory of Jackie Robinson and his incredible achievements. Serving as an advocate for young people with the greatest need, the Foundation assists increasing numbers of minority youths through the granting of four-year college scholarships and comprehensive practical support. The Jackie Robinson Foundation is distinctive for providing much more than financial support. While each Jackie Robinson Scholar receives up to $28,000 over four years in direct support, they also become an active member in the Foundation’s unique Mentoring and Leadership Development Program, which is an extensive mentoring program that includes practical skills-building and exposure through attendance at conference workshops, the assignment of peer and professional mentors, assistance with internship and employment placement, and a myriad of other networking opportunities.

The  2016-2017 Batherus, Maser & Love Funeral Home Scholarship was established in 1994 to aid high school graduates seeking higher education in the state of Nebraska. Butherus, Maser and Love Funeral Home recognize the importance of further study to achieve career goals. This scholarship is available to students who will attend a trade school, college or university in the state of Nebraska. The award is presented to a senior selected  from each of the Lincoln and surrounding area High Schools. A special Scholarship Luncheon will be held on Sunday, May 7th to honor the winners

The application for the 2017 James M Cox Foundation Scholarship is available by clicking here. This foundation awards $1,000 scholarships to graduating seniors in the eastern third of Nebraska who will attend an institution of higher learning in the 2017-18 academic year and who demonstrate acute need.

Below are links to the brochures and the applications for the St. Elizabeth summer camp (1 week) and Internship (4 weeks) programs. Students with a strong interest and commitment to pursuing a health related career are encouraged to apply. Applications  are DUE on MARCH 3…..a week before Spring Break, so selections can be made ASAP. ONLY a limited number of students are selected for this – 6 Interns and 10 campers.  No late applications will be accepted.

Brochures and applications for the ST. Elizabeth Health Camp/Internship are also available in the counseling office.  The Health camp will be held June 5-9 for current Sophomores and Juniors. The Internship will be held June 5 – 29 for current Juniors.  If interested, pick up a brochure and speak to your counselor.  Applications are due back by March 3.

Students must have passed one of the pre-reqs for the camp, and 2 of the pre-reqs for the internship.  The interns who successfully complete the program earn a $500 scholarship. Pre-reqs include: Intro to Health Science, Fundamentals of Health Careers, Medical Terminology, Anatomy & Physiology.


UNO's Goodrich scholarship application deadline is March 1, 2017 at 5:00PM. Students can apply online athttps://goodrich.fluidreview.com/. Unofficial high school transcripts and ACT/SAT scores are directly uploaded by the applicant in their Goodrich application account.

For convenience, please note that the EPPE is now offered online. Directions for this process can be reviewedhttp://www.unomaha.edu/enrollment-management/testing-center/placement-exams/english-placement-proficiency-exam.php. Applicants must have their UNO NetID credentials (username and password) to register for this free exam. The FINAL EPPE date that will be accepted by Goodrich applicants is February 25. Because the EPPE is now offered online, they will only offer the in-person and on-campus EPPE exam 3 times (February 11, 24 and 25). Please note that the February 24 exam will have limited seats.

The Pound PTO Scholarship to be awarded again this spring.  Please note that any student who attended Pound for all three years of middle school and will graduate from any LPS high school is eligible.  This is NOT a needs based scholarship so financial information is not only not needed, but is not wanted when applying. The scholarship committee does NOT want any parent financial statements. The application process is very simple and only requires writing an essay and submitting it to the PTO Scholarship Chairperson, Carmen Skare, by the designated deadline (April 14th).  The topic of the essay is explained on the application form.  Money is paid directly to the designated college of the student winner in their name/account.

Pound Middle School Essay Scholarships

“How has an event or person at Pound Middle School prepared you for high school, and advanced 
education, by making a difference in your life?”

Award: Two $250 scholarships will be granted for the winning essays. The scholarships will be paid 
directly to the post-secondary institution requested by winning recipient.

1. Eligible applicants include college-bound seniors who attended Pound Middle School for three 
years, and are graduating from a Lincoln Public Schools high school.
2. The minimum 300-word essay should be typed, double-spaced, in a 12-point font (Times, Courier, 
Calibri, etc.), saved as a PDF file, for submission via email, or postmarked, no later than Friday, 
April 14, 2017.
3. Spelling and grammar are important.
4. Essay should include personal experience and application responding to the question
- “How has an event or person at Pound Middle School prepared you for high school, and advanced 
education, by making a difference in your life?”

Judging: Criteria for judgment will include personal experience and application, as well as quality 
of writing. A panel including current Pound students, staff, and PTO parents will anonymously 
review submissions and select recipients.

Submissions: Hard copy submissions may be mailed to Pound Scholarship Application c/o Pound Middle

Better Business Bureau (BBB) Foundation serving Nebraska, South Dakota, The Kansas Plains and Southwest Iowa  is accepting applications from high school seniors for the 2017 Scott Mecham BBB Student of Integrity Awards.

This year, twelve (12) students will each be granted $2,000 college scholarships: three from metro Lincoln and greater Nebraska, three from The Kansas Plains area, three from South Dakota and three from metro Omaha and Southwest Iowa.

The State Farm Good Neighbor Scholarship doesn’t require a high GPA, but rather focuses on students who are leaders and volunteers in their communities and demonstrate financial need.

Stony Brook University's priority application deadline is January 15, 2017. It accepts both the State University of New York (SUNY) Application and The Common Application All supporting documents (transcripts, SAT/ACT scores, and letters of recommendation) are due February 1, 2017. All applicants will be able to check the status of their applications by logging into their SOLAR System accounts.
