Students and their families are reminded that college planning and scholarship resources are available free of charge. Anders Peterson, EducationQuest college planning/financial aid specialist is at LSW on Thursdays. To make an appointment, please contact Mrs. Way in the Counseling Center at or 402-436-1306 Option #3. also features a variety of resources, including the ScholarshipQuest search for scholarships offered by Nebraska organizations. EducationQuest also has their Lincoln office located at 13th & O Street and the # is 402-475-5222.


Eisenberg Gilchrist & Cutt is pleased to offer the EGC Women in Law Scholarship. The scholarship is open to women interested in pursuing a career in law nationwide. The applicant must be enrolled at an accredited college, university or law school at the time the scholarship is awarded, will not have graduated by Fall 2017, and must be attending classes. This scholarship is only open to women. The scholarship will be awarded based on merit, need and commitment to helping others. Applicants must have a minimum GPA of 3.0. A transcript must be attached to the application for consideration. Applicants must submit an official transcript if selected as a finalist.

A one-time award of $1500.00 will be awarded to one applicant to be used for tuition, books and expenses. Completed application must be submitted online by June 30th , 2017. Late or incomplete applications will not be considered. The award recipient will be announced by September 1st , 2017.

*** will sponsor an All Access Virtual College Fair on May 17th! Rising seniors (current juniors) are encouraged to register by clicking here. so they can participate in this event, which includes the following features:

Summer School registration materials can be found in the counseling center.

Registration dates are as follows:

Week of May 1 - All LPS Students

Week of May 8 - All LPS Students - last day to accept and enter registration at LSW is May 10 at 4 pm.  After this point, students and families will need to register at Lincoln NorthStar at the start of summer school.

Please contact your student's counselor to assist in the process of selecting necessary classes.  Completed applications (and payment if necessary) can be brought to Mrs. Way, the counseling secretary, for processing.  

All in-person classes will be held at Lincoln NorthStar, June 1 - July 14.  E-learning will be offered at East, Lincoln High, Northeast, Southeast, North Star or Bryan.  If a student is only taking a 3-week e-learning course or needs 3 weeks to complete a course, this will be done only at East High School.  If a student desires to take an e-learning course, please indicate the preferred location on the registration form.  

If a student plans to be gone for vacation, camps or clinics for 3+ days of summer school, they should not register for classes.

Recurring Announcements:

Students! The Hawk Talk school newspaper is seeking photo submissions for the cover of the next issue. Photos can be taken with a professional camera, point and shoot, or even with your cell phone.  If you have taken a picture that you think others would enjoy and would like to have published in the May edition of the Hawk Talk, please stop by C110 before or after school to see Miss Benson. The deadline is next Friday, May 5th.

Attention students signed up to take an AP exam-please check your LPS email account message detailing AP testing dates and locations specifics. If you have any questions please see Dr. Brady in the main office.

9th grade students- Youth Leadership Lincoln is now accepting applications for 2017-18 program.  Applications can be picked up in the main office or download an application from at  The application deadline is Friday, May 19 by 5 p.m.  Late applications will not be accepted.

Tickets are now on sale for the 10th all faculty production, ENCORES FROM BROADWAY! Come and watch 14 of your LSW teachers and staff dance and sing some of Broadway’s biggest hits LIVE on stage! Performances are May 15 and 16th @ 7:00p.m.  We are asking for a $10.00 donation per ticket.  Tickets are available at the Theatre Box Office.

This message is very important for LPS Seniors (graduates) with data on Google Drive that they wish to take with them.  Please encourage EVERY Senior to retrieve this data prior to leaving LPS.  Even if they are unsure if they will ever want it, it is very important to grab it NOW.  As soon as they leave LPS (even the day after they leave) their files are no longer available to them.

       Please encourage ALL GRADUATING SENIORS to follow the instructions at prior to graduation.

Attention juniors and seniors interested in attending Post Prom: All student will be required to submit a parent signed waiver to Mrs. Mescher in the Media Center to complete your ticket purchase. Tickets sales will be ONLINE ONLY the week before prom. April 24th through May1st. No tickets will be sold the week of prom and there are only 600 tickets available for this event.  You can go online now and print the waiver from and have it signed and returned to Mrs. Mescher before sales even start! Visit the LSW home page and click on the big Post Prom banner which will take you to the download page. This will save you time and make your ticket purchase faster! Anyone who returns their completed form by Friday, April 21st will be entered into a drawing for a $50.00 Target gift card!  See Mrs. Mescher in the Media Center if you have any questions!
