100% Remote Learning Student Info.

Students who are beginning their school year as a 100% Remote Learner will come to school on Tuesday, August 11, during their scheduled time to pick up their required textbooks and supplies.

Southwest Item Retrieval Plan:
We will have items ready to distribute for remote learners on Tuesday, August 11th. Items may be picked up at our front doors between 10:00 am and 3:30pm. To help reduce crowding, we have identified specific windows of time, associated with the first letter of your student’s last name. Below is the schedule, however, you can come when it works for your family.
Items Retrieval TImes:
Please enter through our main front doors and check in at the security window. A staff member will take your student’s name, and the items will be retrieved and brought to you at the front door.
If you are a 9th grade student, or brand new to Lincoln Public Schools, please communicate that when you arrive. You will be taken to the media center to receive your new Chromebook for the year. Incoming 9th graders who attend LPS middle schools must bring their old Chromebook to school at this time, so that it can be exchanged for a new one to use in high school.

Below are instructional sheets and a video to help you and your student access their classes via Zoom:
In addition to these resources, we are offering two virtual informational sessions for families to help answer any questions they have about Remote Learning via Zoom. This is for any student that has chosen 100% Remote Learning and all high school students who are participating in the 3/2 schedule.
Chromebook care
It’s time for your student to pull out their LPS student Chromebook and give it a check-up so that is ready for the start of school! If the Chromebook hasn’t been used for a while, turn it on this week to make sure it is working properly.
Here’s what your student needs to do to prepare their LPS Chromebook for school:
  1. Plug in and turn on your Chromebook.
  2. Sign into the Chromebook.
  3. Open Google Chrome and click on the “Home” button.
  4. Ensure you can log in to the LPS portal.
  5. Click on the time located on the corner of the tray (dock).
  6. Verify that your Chromebook is charging while plugged into power.
  7. If your Chromebook is charging you will see a message saying “Battery Full” or indicate an amount of time waiting until fully charged.
  8. Close the lid, leave your Chromebook plugged in and charge the device for 3 hours to ensure it is fully charged.
  9. Log back into your Chromebook to verify it is charged.
  10. Power down your Chromebook using the following steps:
    1. Click the user panel in the bottom right corner of the screen.
    2. Click the power symbol to power down your Chromebook.
If you have any problems with your Chromebook, please contact the LPS Help Desk at 402-436-1735.
PLEASE COMPLETE - School meals for remote learners
LPS is planning food distribution sites for remote learners only. The school district will operate sites once per week at set locations, times, and dates. Families will need to provide their own transportation to and from the site at the designated time. Meals distributed at the sites will be charged exactly as they are during in-person school - Free, Reduced or Full Pay status.
In order to plan for this distribution we would like to get a better understanding of how many students wish to participate in the program.
Please take a moment to respond to this survey about your interest in having your remote learner participate in food distribution.
Reminder: Please complete internet access survey
LPS is committed to ensuring each student has access to educational materials and support while attending school from home. We emailed you a survey earlier in the week to assess whether families have the technology resources needed to successfully attend school remotely. If you haven’t already, please complete the following survey for each student in your household participating in Remote Learning.
If it is determined your family will need assistance obtaining a Mobile Access Point (mobile hotspot) after filling out the survey, you will receive the device on August 11 with other materials at the school attended by your oldest child.
Extracurricular Athletics and Activities
Students attending school via Remote Learning via Zoom can come to school for before or after school activities, intramural practices, clubs, and/or Community Learning Centers.
