Congratulations to the LSW Show Choirs on their performances in Columbia, Missouri. The Prep Show Choir - Ambience earned 1st Place in the Prep/Class D and C Division, Best Opening Song (in the Auditorium), and secured a spot in the finals competition where they competed against the top 5 groups from the entire competition. Ambience ended up placing 6th Overall out of 30 groups. The Varsity Show Choir - Resonance did even better! After placing 2nd during the day time competition, the choir rallied to win it ALL! They won awards for Best Opening Song (in the Gym), Best Female Soloist (Sophomore-Danielle Parde), Best Vocals, Best Band and were named OVERALL GRAND CHAMPION!

Attention all Japan travelers! The official sign up meeting for the October 2009 trip will be Sunday, February 1 at 1:30 PM in the Lux Middle School multipurpose room. Please attend with your parents and be ready to make a final commitment for the trip. Email kmercure@lps.org or call 402-432-6678 if you cannot attend this meeting. This is a required meeting for all students and parents who plan to go on trip.

Valentine Flowers will be on sale Feb. 2 thru Feb. 13 before & after school, and during lunch. $2.00 for a carnation, $4.00 for a rose. Remember that special student, teacher, or staff member and help support the LSW Theatre department at the same time.

Online registration for next year's juniors will be Monday, 26th at 8 a.m. and end on Sunday, February 1st at midnight. Access to the online registration site will requires a student's ID and password information. Information is available on the LSW website located at http://lsw.lps.org/ for reviewing graduation requirements, college entrance requirements, and instructions for accessing the online registration program at home. Counselors will be available on Tuesday, January 27th & Thursday, January 29th n a first-come, first-serve basis from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m. Please check in with Mrs. Way at the entrance of the Media Center Lab.

Silver Hawk Theatre Scholarship forms are now available in the counseling center and the Theatre Black Box to seniors who will be graduating in 2009. Forms are due back to Mr. Henrichs by MARCH 10.

Auditions for the spring musical, The Pirates of Penzance, will be ONE DAY ONLY - Tuesday, Jan. 27. There will be two sessions: 3:15-5:30pm and 7:00pm - ??. Students need to attend only one session. Audition packets available now at the theatre box office. Cost is $1.00 per packet to cover duplication.

Concession Stand will be open every Monday from 3:15-3:45

Tuesday PLC Study Hall in B111 from 2:20 - 3:10pm.

COLLEGE BOUND SENIORS - It's FAFSA Time! It's time to get serious about the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) - the application for state, federal and college-specific financial aid. February is typically the time to apply as many colleges have a March 1 priority filing date. (Contact the colleges you applied to and ask about their priority date.) Seniors to do list: (1) Apply for a Department of Education PIN (one for you and one for a parent). (2) Complete student and parent 2008 tax returns. (3)Complete the FAFSA (4)Continue to apply for scholarships. Check the LSW Counseling Center web site for more information or see your counselor today!

COLLEGE BOUND JUNIORS to do list: (1) Register by February 10 for the March 14 SAT (SAT Reasoning Test only) (2) Register by February 27 for the April 4 ACT. (3) Sign up for the LSW ACT Prep Class which starts February 17th (six Tuesday nights - 6:30-8-30pm). See your counselor today for more information!

Attention Students interested in UNDERGRADUATE PROGRAMS at BRYANLGH COLLEGE OF HEALTH SCIENCES - Application deadline for Bachelor of Science in Nursing for Spring 2010 is June 1, 2009. Application deadlines will be February 1 for Fall starts and June 1st for Spring starts. Program application deadline for the School of Allied Health is April 1, 2009. Students will now be accepted into the School of Allied Health programs, Invasive Cardiovascular Technology, Vascular Sonography, Adult Cardiac Sonography, and General Sonography; directly out of high school with no college level pre-requisites required.

Outstanding Young Volunteer of the Year Award - The Ladies Auxiliary to the Veterans of Foreign Wars of the U.S. - $5,000 Savings Bond & trip awarded to student, age 12 to 15, who has provided outstanding volunteer service to his or her community.
