Congratulations to Junior Wyki Walstrom and Senior Michael Crelin who are among 127 students from across the state picked to serve on the Nebraska Attorney General's Youth Advisory Council.

Congrats to the debate team for winning the East Debate tournament. Special congrats to champion Noemi Berkowitz (Novice LD) and to runners-up Paul Poulsen (Varsity LD), and Landon Sadler/Alex Renken (Novice PF). Other finalists included Jimmy Lee, Shahdi Negahban, Jordan Brooks, Bilal Kamal, Jack Zhang, Alex Janssen, Kaitlyn Steinacher, Renna Van Deusen, Sydney Hayes, Maddie Bien, Sam Gemar. Kamal and Zhang were also the top speakers for Varsity PF.

Congrats to the speech team for being runner-up at East Speech. Congrats to the following finalists: Mary Metz, Juee Trivedi, Tegan Colton, Emma Gruhl, Caitlin Lukin, Chad Hassebrook, Kaley Cook, Alie Kloefkorn, Kelsey Arends, Will Folsom, Christina Mayer, Aleem Malik, Austin Blankenau, and Andrew Francis.

Congrats to both speech and debate teams as LSW received the 2009 Spartan Invitational Combined Sweepstakes Runner-Up.

Football Any student wanting to play football in the fall must attend a mandatory meeting Thursday, Feb. 26th at 3:15pm in A118 Forum. If you cannot attend see Coach King.

Juniors who are interested in attending the UNL or Nebraska Wesleyan Silver Hawk campus visit day please submit your paperwork to the Counseling Center by Friday, February 27th. If you need another copy of the paperwork please stop in the Counseling Center.

2009 Graduates--Please check the list of 2009 graduates posted on the Attendance Office window to make sure your legal name is spelled correctly. Diplomas will be printed as shown. See Mrs. Carman, Registrar, if there are ANY changes.

Students planning on attending UNL or UNK--- the University of Nebraska Math Placement exam will be offered here at LSW on Wednesday, April 1st. Students interested in taking the placement exam need to register in the Counseling center before March 5th. Questions, see Mr. Ahlschwede in the Math department or Ms. Tegeler in the Counseling center.

THE PRESIDENT'S VOLUNTEER SERVICE AWARD: Applications are now available from the Counseling Center and the Main Office. Forms need to be turned into Keri Applebee in the Main Office or Jake Sedivy in the Theatre Box Office by March 16, 2009. Volunteer service hours should be for hours worked from January 2008 - December 31, 2008. One form needed for each volunteer site.

Silver Hawk Theatre Scholarship forms are now available in the counseling center and the Theatre Black Box to seniors who will be graduating in 2009. Forms are due back to Mr. Henrichs by MARCH 10.

Ninth Annual CULTURAL LEADERSHIP CONFERENCE - "Empowering Our World Through Unity" @ Buena Vista University in Stormlake, IA from April 2nd-April 5th - This opportunity is free of charge. The application deadline is Feb. 27th. See your counselor if interested.

Lincoln Council on Alcoholism and Drugs is in charge of a State Farm Grant and looking for youth to participate. The campaign is geared towards not drinking and driving and not riding with a drinking driver. There will be a minimum of 6 projects throughout the community. Each project will be allotted up to $1,500. One individual or a group of individuals can apply. Anything that the grant supports has to be a new project. The deadline for submissions is Feb. 28th. See Mrs. Volker in the counseling center if interested in this opportunity.

Attention Students interested in UNDERGRADUATE PROGRAMS at BRYANLGH COLLEGE OF HEALTH SCIENCES - Application deadline for Bachelor of Science in Nursing for Spring 2010 is June 1, 2009. Application deadlines will be February 1 for Fall starts and June 1st for Spring starts. Program application deadline for the School of Allied Health is April 1, 2009.
